Kids consume more coffee: shows recent study

As soda intake declines due to recent changes in schools vending machines and cafeterias, coffee and energy drinks represent a greater proportion of caffeine intake (among children) reports the journal for the American Association of Pediatrics, over a recent study in the Pediatrics.

Experts say there has been a reversal in attitudes in recent years as coffee, which was previously painted as dangerous - especially for children - is coming to be viewed as relatively healthy. Many of the reports that linked coffee consumption to stunted growth and heart disease have been debunked, says coffee historian, Mark Pendergrast.
