Avoiding valuables stolen from your car

Do not leave valuables, purse, briefcase etc in your car unattended. Hiding it under a towel or under the seat or inside the trunk is not enough. Thieves are smart and they look for such clues.

Do not leave postal mail in the car like credit card statements or any mail that has personal information. Your personal information can be used by the thief to steal your identity.

Do not keep the vehicle registration card inside the car. Keep a copy in your wallet or purse. The thief can use the information on your registration card and apply for a new title of the car. Based on the new title he can apply for a loan on the car.

Do not leave garage door opener or house keys inside the car. The thief can steal valuables from your car and with the garage door opener, he can steal valuables from your house also.
